A small cancellator, more or less like a mach box in size, is incorporated on the inside of the ticket vending machine ISIS-RC4. It does not need to change its design nor add any external element, just a symbol with the words "zona de cancelación" (cancelling zone) telling us the machine is equipped with this novel electronic device.

On the inside of a card similar to the credit ones, a tiny 'chip' is hidden. This chip is rechargeable, capable of keeping the precise information about the number of journeys, prices and all data needed for a correct operation of every service. Its format makes the cards lasting and easy to use and also reusable a nearly infinite number of times.

It is enough to approach the card to the “zona de cancelación” of the cancelling machine for it to automatically discount a journey from the card and incorporate it to the system data.

The continuous and surprising advances in the field of electronics have clashed with a spectacular reduction in price of the components, making the price of a purely electronic contactless cancelling machine much lower than the price of its conventional homologues which incorporate complex mechanical systems. Furthermore, although the card might be a wee bit more expensive than the traditional ones made of paper or cardboard, its duration is mush higher. All of this, joined to the low maintenance cost make the contactless technology one of the most profitable of the actual market, as it has being shown by its quick implantation in other fields.
